There’s a vast choice of safe routes, cycle routes<\/strong> that criss-cross Europe and mountain bike trails<\/strong>. Greenways: a paradise for Sunday cyclists and families!<\/span><\/h2>

Whether in Lorraine<\/a> or Alsace<\/a>, the Grand Est region boasts almost a hundred cycling itineraries. Along rivers, through picturesque villages, through forests or mountains, Alsace Lorraine’s cycle routes<\/strong> are sure to surprise you! <\/p>

What’s the advantage of a greenway? Off-limits to motor vehicles, greenways<\/strong> are ideal playgrounds for families. Most of them follow towpaths or converted railroads. They are therefore not very steep, and are accessible to the greatest number of cyclists, even the least experienced. They allow cyclists to ride along tree-lined paths in the midst of nature, ideal for rejuvenating rides. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Greenways in the Vosges<\/span><\/h3>

The Saint-Di\u00e9-les-Vosges<\/strong> conurbation boasts 50 km of safe routes, including:
– the Vall\u00e9e de la Plaine greenway (25 km)<\/strong>, a forest trail with numerous rest areas;
– the Chemin des Abbayes greenway (16 km) <\/strong>, to discover the local architectural heritage;
– the Haute-Meurthe greenway (9 km)<\/strong>. This passes through Anould, a neighboring town to our campsite in the Vosges. <\/p>

The Hautes-Vosges greenway<\/strong> runs for 53 km from Remiremont<\/strong> to Bussang<\/strong> and Cornimont<\/strong>. In the heart of the Vosges mountains, the route follows the Moselle valley<\/strong> through unspoilt countryside. Ideal for a breath of fresh air in sublime scenery. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Alsace and Moselle by bike<\/span><\/h3>

At the crossroads of several European cycle routes, Alsace is an ideal playground for hikers wishing to use their two-wheeled vehicles. Known as EuroV\u00e9lo or Voie Bleue, they link several countries and cover thousands of kilometers. Among them is the Rhine Canal Greenway<\/strong> (or EuroV\u00e9lo 15<\/em>) on the French section from Colmar to Strasbourg<\/strong>. With its flat, traffic-free paths, young and old alike can discover the region’s key towns in a variety of landscapes. <\/p>

Inland, EuroV\u00e9lo 5<\/strong> crosses the Moselle<\/strong> and Alsace<\/strong> on the Alsatian vineyards<\/strong> via the Via Romea, an ancient Roman road. We recommend the 29km<\/strong> stretch from Ch\u00e2tenois to Turckheim<\/strong>, which is suitable for all levels, even beginners. This cyclical stage takes you through the castles of Alsace, including Haut Koenigsbourg<\/a> and its vineyards.<\/p>

For long-distance cyclists, the Voie Bleue<\/strong>, a European Cycle Route 5<\/strong> linking Luxembourg to Lyon, obviously passes through the Grand-Est region before reaching Bourgogne-Franche-Comt\u00e9. Cycling on <\/span>tourist trails<\/h2>

Cycle tourism<\/strong> is on a roll. It’s a great way to explore local heritage and admire the scenery while staying in shape. It’s definitely a good idea to get on your bike and set off on a tour. In addition to the greenways, there are other itineraries that use roads with little traffic. This gives holidaymakers and cyclists alike a complete overview of the region. <\/p>

It’s up to you to choose which cycling tour you’d like to take! In Alsace, the “Route des vins<\/a> \u00e0 v\u00e9lo” allows you to discover the wine-growing landscapes <\/strong>and taste some fabulous beverages between two glasses of water. In the Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional des Ballons des Vosges<\/strong>, you can enjoy views of lakes, forests and mountains as you pedal leisurely through the valley. <\/p>

What’s more, these itineraries offer the chance to stop off in natural areas, towns and villages with a wealth of attractions. For example, the Hautes-Vosges greenway<\/strong> allows you to:
– explore the Crozery gorges<\/strong>;
– stop off at the Chaudefontaine spring in Vecoux<\/strong>;

Cycling in Alsace and Lorraine: from family outings to more athletic pursuits<\/span><\/h3>

While the greenways and cycle paths <\/strong>enable all cyclists to enjoy the Vosges mountains, the more experienced and sporty will also find something to suit them on the more demanding routes. From Corcieux<\/strong>, a road loop takes you to Lac de G\u00e9rardmer<\/a>, with 850 m of ascent in 19 km. This is just one example, with dozens of similar routes awaiting climbers.<\/p>

For off-road enthusiasts, the Vosges department<\/strong> boasts over 3,500 km of marked mountain bike trails! Once again, something for everyone. Here are a few ideas put forward by the departmental council for you to try out on your vacation:
– “le Lac de la Plaine”: a 10 km family trail;
– “\u00e0 l’assaut de vues imprenables”: an easy 25 km trail;
– “autour de la Vologne”: a medium-level trail (26 km) to discover the region’s heritage. <\/p>
